AT&T at symposium this Wednesday
MKT/Retail Club Chicago trip
16 students and I went to Crate and Barrel, DraftFCB, and A&E/History Channel’s Regional Headquarters on Friday. It was a trip filled with a lot of great information about three different career paths!
Chairman Bob Symposium
Our symposium on March 25th was a huge success! Chairman Bob (Bob Mariano) from Roundy’s spoke to the students about his career path and the way Roundy’s has grown since he took on the role as CEO.
We are having Chairman Bob from Roundy’s come in to speak about Brands and Private Labels on March 25th. We are very excited to welcome him to the Center for Retailing Excellence and look forward to his presentation.
I met with Cindy from the BCC yesterday and gave her information on our Retail Leadership Symposium. It will now be posted on the BCC’s info board and under “Info Sessions” on Buckynet. Our Symposium’s purpose is to bring in speakers from major retailers and have them present on a variety of topics. For example, the VP of Trek comes in and speaks on manufacturing, or Chairman Bob from Roundy’s comes in to speak about Brands and private labels. After the symposium, there is time for questions and to meet the speakers!
Stephanie Pulgeliese, the VP of Duluth Trading is coming to our weekly symposium this week. She is going to speak about developing a niche catalogue. Should be really great info for those that think beyond big box and small box retailers. Check out their website at www.duluthtrading.com – they have some really innovative ways to market their product!
Store Manager Panel Event
The Retail Club and MKT hosted a panel event last night where we invited in Store Managers from leading companies. The companies represented were Kohls, Target, AT&T, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Maurices, Roundys, and Bridgestone/Firestone. It was a really fun and informative event that gave our students a chance to ask them why they chose to work store-side. It was a great event that we hope to put on yearly!
Our new blog
Hi everyone!
Welcome to the launch of our new blog “Badgers in Retail”. We here at Kohl’s Center for Retailing Excellence want to use this site to connect students, alumni, and our corporate partners. We will update our events and keep you posted on the daily happenings in the center.
